Md Nayem Hasan Munna is the founder of Earth Review and a Ph.D. candidate at The Ohio State University, USA. He has published four peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals, including Soil Use and Management, Sustainability, Archives of Agronomy and Soil Science, and Cogent Food & Agriculture, focusing on soil physical quality, soil carbon and nitrogen sequestration, saline soil reclamation, and sustainable management under long-term no-till systems.
He has delivered invited talks at the Lal Carbon Center and the SENR Seminar Series at OSU and received competitive recognition for his research, including First Place in the CFAES 3-Minute Thesis Competition (2026) with a $300 Professional Development Grant, Top 7 Abstract Selection at the Interdisciplinary Water Research Symposium, and Top 10 Abstract Selection at the Zamorano Symposium. He has also presented oral, lightning, and poster presentations at major scientific events in Ohio, USA.
He earned his M.S. and B.S. degrees in Soil and Environmental Sciences from the University of Barishal, Bangladesh. He was awarded the National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh (2021–2022), and received the Dean’s Award for outstanding academic performance in both his M.S. (2022) and B.S. (2017–2018) programs.
His research interests include soil and environmental management, soil fertility, biochar, soil organic matter dynamics, plant-available water capacity, soil physical quality, water quality, wastewater management, and environmental sustainability.

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. at The Ohio State University in the United States. I studied Soil and Environmental Sciences with my MS and BS from the University of Barishal. I have learned to use a lot of software for my academic research purposes. Now, I am helping other Young Enthusiasts to learn the software to make their research journey smoother.

scientific inquiry. Beyond his dissertation research, Munna has been actively involved in scholarly

He was always engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and performed at a very high level on both assignments and exams.

I came to know Md Nayem Hasan Munna during my time as a visiting research scholar at the CFAES Rattan Lal Center for Carbon Management and Sequestration (Lal Carbon Center). During this period, we attended seminars together, visited long-term experimental sites at Waterman Farm, and engaged in many stimulating academic conversations. I am familiar with Md Nayem Hasan Munna for quite a long time. It is tough to find someone at his stage having too much interest in research. But he is an exceptional student who always take challenges for conducting empirical research. By evaluating some of his research, I found he has a good experience in lab analysis using different instruments, social data collection, and analysis through statistical software, and also has good knowledge on the social-technical approach of research. He is good at different research idea generation and formulating methodology in a problem-solving manner. His hard-working attitude and passion for learning make him an ideal candidate for learning from any world renounced university. His future plan is to contribute to Bangladesh’s environmental sector through scientific research which is very needful for the country.
I first met Md Nayem Hasan Munna when I joined as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Soil and Environmental Sciences, University of Barishal, Bangladesh in March 2015. After joining this department, I have taken two undergraduate courses in their batch. Later on, I switched to the Department of Coastal Studies and Disaster Management at the same University. I rarely come across real talents who stand out like Md Nayem Hasan Munna. He is an exceptional student who always takes challenges in conducting research.
